Argentina defaulted on Friday after failing to pay interest of US$ 500 million on its bond debt, but it is still negotiating a restructuring with creditors, an official source told AFP. 

“We don’t pay but the negotiations continue,” the source said. 

The default, Argentina’s ninth ; was widely expected after the economic ministry announced Thursday it was postponing talks with international creditors to restructure $66 billion of its debt for the second time, this time to June 2.
